Volunteering

Volunteers are a key ingredient to Caroline Center’s success.  Whether it’s for a few hours, weeks or months, your time and talents are needed and welcomed!  Time is precious and we are grateful to those volunteers who share their time with us.  Each year volunteers are honored at a special reception in the Spring.  We hope you will consider working with us in one of the following ways:

Tutoring
Math, reading, and GED tutors are needed to work with trainees on an individual basis.  Training will be provided.

Special Events – Green Food and Bands Fundraiser
Caroline Center’s Green Food and Bands fundraiser, has a hard-working committee that organizes and coordinates this annual event held every March that usually draws a crowd of 400.  The committee meets monthly beginning in September and sometimes a bit more in February and early March.

Clerical/Receptionist
Both Caroline Center and the Upholstery shop have openings for volunteers to answer phones, assist with filing, and other similar duties.

Bulk mailings
Volunteers are essential for helping keep mailing costs at a minimum.  The process involves labeling, stuffing envelopes or other inserts, and sealing.  Groups (e.g. church/civic organizations, friends, students) as well as individuals who would like to join the group are welcome.  Refreshments are provided.

Virtual volunteering
This is a wonderful way to help Caroline Center via the Internet from the comfort of your home or work computer.  Help with technical tasks such a proof-reading a new manual or providing direct service via email are the type of areas being developed for volunteer experiences.

Building Maintenance
Assistance in areas such as general upkeep, painting, cleaning, and landscape are available.

Community service
Individuals or groups of high school students can obtain service hours in a variety of areas.

Internships
Opportunities exist for college and graduate students to intern in areas such as education, social work, counseling, planning, and development/fundraising.

Committees
The Board of Trustees has committees (Finance, Program, and Development) that at times need members to assist with its work.

Other
Your unique talent, interests, and ideas will also be considered.
